Sophie Girard (Camille De Pazzis) is a member of the watch team at the NATO radar facility on the island of Sainte Marina.
Biography[]
Season 1[]
Captain[]
On the island Sainte Marina, Sophie picks up missile fire from her post at a NATO monitoring station. She identifies the weapon as a US Tomahawk missile. She also gets a visit from the island's Mayor Julian Serrat, who is trying to curry favor with gifts. Soon afterwards she records two nuclear missiles being fired on Pakistan but is powerless to intervene and breaks down in tears.
The USS Colorado surfaces in the Sainte Marina bay and the crew secure the NATO station under the command of the Captain, Marcus Chaplin. Sophie's protests are ignored. She overhears that the Colorado was attacked by friendlies and then listens to the Executive Officer Sam Kendal talking lovingly with his wife at home. He is able to tell her that he loves her but they are cut off by a sudden blackout in the NATO station. He takes Sophie to the generator and finds that Chief Joseph Prosser, Seaman Stern, and Seaman Lawrence have switched it off and contacted naval command to report their action. Stern threatens Sam with a gun. Lieutenant Grace Shepard shoots Stern, killing him before he can fire at Sam. They get the generator on-line in time to recognize a pair of bombers headed towards the island. Chaplin forces the bombers to turn back by launching a nuclear warhead towards the US. He aims it into the Atlantic Ocean 200 miles east of Washington as a warning. Chaplin then records a video message declaring the island his territory and threatening to attack anyone who violates a 200 mile perimeter around it.[1]
Blue on Blue[]
A passenger aircraft breaches the perimeter and Chaplin threatens to shoot it down. Sophie Girard intervenes and radios the plane, successfully urging it to turn back. Sam deduces that the flight was dropping special forces troops intended to take over the Colorado. Sam asks Sophie for her help, given her knowledge of the island. She agrees to show Sam a good spot for an ambush. The action is a partial success - the invading forces are repelled but five crew men are killed.
