The Philippines (officially known as the Republic of the Philippines (Filipino: Repúblika ng Pilipinas), is a sovereign island country in Southeast Asia situated in the western Pacific Ocean. It consists of 7,107 islands that are categorized broadly under three main geographical divisions: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Its capital city is Manila while its most populous city is Quezon City; both are part of Metro Manila.
The Philippines is one of the major non-NATO allies of the United States. It has played a key role to pivot the American presence in the Asia-Pacific region, along with South Korea and Japan. The country has territorial disputes with Malaysia, Brunei, Vietnam, Taiwan, and China regarding islets, reefs, and shoals in the South China Sea.
The country appears in two episodes in the first season of Last Resort.
